We are ready!

Christmas Eve almost full moon over Kings Marina

The duck was collected this morning in the pouring rain from the nice butchers in town. This enabled Mick to finish packing more presents for me! Although the pile hasn’t grown that much!

Christmas sausage rolls

The rest of the day I’ve been busy in the kitchen trying to get ahead for tomorrow. Bread sauce, gravy stock, braised cabbage and stuffing are all ready to reheat on the stove top or go in the duck. Christmas Eve sausage rolls with added chestnuts and cranberry have been made and half consumed. As they went in the oven I half expected a knock on the roof from our friend Frank. He always seemed to have the knack of turning up for a cuppa on Christmas Eve just as they were going in the oven in Scarborough. So we have some left over.

The Christmas biscuits have been baked and tested. Now our Christmas Ham is roasting away in the oven with a dish of dauphinoise potatoes for our tea tonight.

Festive Lillian

All that is left to do is put the stockings in front of the stove and hope that the big man remembers us tonight, oh and open a beer or two!

0 locks, 0 miles, 1 soggy trip to the butchers, 12 sausages only, 38 biscuits, 12 sausage rolls, 0 Frank, 1 duck, 1 ham, 2 many breadcrumbs, 6 lucky swimming ducks tomorrow.
