Rummaging in the bushes 22nd September

Eastwood Lock

After administering Tilly’s medication (I’m so not getting the cuddles I used to!) we set off in a hire car to Scarborough. Going over the canal to Goole we couldn’t see any boats and neither were there any as we crossed over the Ouse on the M62.

Scarborough Castle in the sun

On arrival in Scarborough we drove up our street to check on the length of grass at the house. It has been cut since we had words, but could do with another cut before the end of the year. The next port of call was to my medical address to riffle through the bush by the front door. Emily had left some post for me that I’d need at the hospital later.

Freddie

A nice toasted sandwich was needed at the Harbour Bar, but I wasn’t allowed anything until after the hospital so we headed down to say hello to Freddie in the North Bay. He looks like he has had a coat of something to protect him and maybe stop him from rusting anymore as he has a slight gleam. Plenty of people were stood round him having photos taken, he is a very popular sculpture.

imag1576smToday was possibly a bad day for my appointment as Mick would be sat waiting in the car without being able to listen to the county championship on the radio. No DAB! So he had the score coming up on an app on his phone. A vital point batting was needed when rain stopped play with just one run to go!!!

He really should tie that up properly!

Early for my appointment didn’t mean I had to sit around waiting, checked in, vital statistics taken, then the procedure. Mick was ready to wait up to two hours and I was in and out within half an hour. Very efficient and even better the sun had come back out at Lords and Yorkshire had scored a few more runs by then, securing that vital point.

A crash on the M18 meant that we diverted our journey back to Lillian by what we call the scenic route, through lots of little villages on the wolds. Back at the Lock the sun was setting over Rotherham and a chap was test flying two pigeons by his boat!

0 locks, 0 miles, 33,000miles on the clock, 6th trip to Scarborough, 1 bush, 1/2 hour early, 0 to report, 1/2 hour rain stopped play, 1 Mick on the edge of the driving seat, 1 numb throat, 1 hedge chopped down, 35 junction, 2 pigeons, 1 lonely Lillian, 1 happy Tilly, 1 p*ssed off Tilly!
