23rd July

A couple of hours should finish the house off, shoudn’t it!?

The day started for me with a drugs run to the vets. We now have enough syringes that if we’re a bit short of money we could sell to addicts on our travels. Then final clearing began. Fleur the CSM from the SJT turned up bang on time to pick up my Mum and Dads chest of draws which she is kindly going to look after for us. Her wife gets to look after my Playstation 3 and the TV. Just hope they still manage to spend quality time together!

By the time the kitchen had been given it’s last clean and keys had been sorted for the agent it was nearly 5pm! With Houdinis’ convertible caravan at the ready the car was packed and finally she was. We were ready for quite a noisy journey, as Houdini tends to be very vocal in the car, but thanks to the Feliway spray I’d got at the vets we only had four angry meows on our two hour journey.

As we headed West the temperature rose. Boats are great at holding heat. The usual way to cool them down is get a breeze flowing through them, but this requires front and back doors to be open. Not a good idea with a cat on board for the first time! So on arrival we opened all windows, Houdini and I headed up front with her litter tray and food and locked the bathroom door so that Mick could continue unloading the car.

First impressions. Well it’s not as big as I (Houdini) had hoped for and rather stuffy! Nice that there is an en-suite pooh tray to the bedroom. Don’t think I’ll be using the shower though. The back of this cupboard looks rather nice though.

After a while the car was unloaded and Houdini was able to see the rest of the boat and had a very very good look round. The back steps seemed to be a good vantage point for her. Or was she just sussing out her escape routes in case of emergency.

With Pizza for tea (Sainsburys Herring and Plaice in Jelly) we settled in for the evening. Only managed to find a few homes for things without taking the dinette to bits. The sooner we sort the storage space under our bed the better. Quite a stuffy evening, but luckily the temperature did drop a little making it just bearable to sleep.

The seagulls round here are very peculiar! They all have colds and make funny noises. But they are good to watch if you can stay on your hind legs for a while. They kindly left the curtains open so I could enjoy the view when I wanted to, all night!

0 Miles, 0 locks, 1 full boat, 1 wardrobe full of cat!
